East Boldre Parish Council Grants.
In general, the ability of East Boldre Parish Council to make grant awards is controlled by Section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972. This allows a fixed sum each year per elector to be spent on items not provided by any other legislation. Grants can also be made using specific legislation, for example, for recreational facilities or items.
Grants cannot be awarded to individuals and they must bring benefit to the population of the parish which is commensurate with the sum being given. East Boldre Parish Council will consider applications for grants from voluntary groups or charitable organisations.
To qualify for an award the applicant must be able to demonstrate that any funding from the Parish Council will benefit the Parish, or residents of the Parish.
An application should be made by completing the Grant Application Form, available along with our grant policy on the website, and returning it to the Parish Clerk. Applications should be submitted by 1st September for consideration in the following year’s budget. Applications at other times may be considered. Grant applications will be considered by the full Council.
Grant funding is available from other sources including:
- Hampshire County Council offer access to several different grant funds, for further information please see: https://www.hants.gov.uk/community/grants
- County Councillor devolved budget grants: Each County Councillor receives an annual budget, to be allocated to local projects, initiatives or organisations in their Division. Legitimate groups and organisations, but not individuals, are able to apply to Cllr Mans for a grant. County Councillor grant funding is available for both revenue (one-off) and minor capital projects. Revenue grants should generally be used to support short term project related costs e.g. a time limited activity group for children. https://www.hants.gov.uk/community/grants/grants-list/county-councillor
- District Councillor devolved budget grants: Each District Councillor has an amount of £600 to allocate, at their discretion, to address local needs within their communities where small-scale improvements can potentially make a big difference. Before awarding the grant, the Councillor must believe the grant will be of benefit to the residents of his/her ward. The grant may not be used to benefit an individual resident or household. Please contact Cllr Harris if you would like to approach him about possibly making a contribution towards a scheme or project you feel will benefit residents in your area. http://www.newforest.gov.uk/article/5189/Grants-and-Funding
- East Boldre Education Trust was set up when the village lost its primary school. Grant funds are available annually to children in the village who need financial support; for example, to purchase a musical instrument. For further information please contact Jan Saunders on 01590 612085.
